Last September archaeologists found over 950 artifacts last year and are continuing to study the underground of the 120 year old landmark.
This past Saturday the Roycroft gave a tour of the work that has been going on since July leaving visitors wanting more.
The Roycroft is preparing for a renovation of the Power House and because of its designation as a historical landmark it is required to perform the dig. Some of the items found to date include bottles, printing equipment, woodworking tools, and most importantly a large foundation for a past greenhouse. Not many of us knew that buildings that once existed have deteriorated and were in none of the old photos or blueprints.
The greenhouse foundation was buried 3 feet below the surface and was near the copper shop.
Still underground but known to exist is the original blacksmith shop which was found outside of the chapel.
It is the goal of the RCC to have the campus restored to how it was back in the early 20th century and to become a major tourist attraction in the north-east.
