Msgr. Kevin T. O’Neill, ordained on May 11, 1961, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Erie, Pa., recently celebrated his 50th anniversary as a priest.
A Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by Msgr. O’Neill will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Immaculate Conception Church in East Aurora, followed by a reception in the school hall. All are welcome to attend.
Msgr. Kevin T. O’Neill, ordained on May 11, 1961, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Erie, Pa., is preparing to celebrate his 50th anniversary as a priest. He is currently serving as canonical administrator of Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga, a position he has held for the past five years.
Msgr. O’Neill’s very first assignments were to St. Francis in Clearfield, Pa., and St. John’s in Erie, Pa. In 1962 he was assigned to St. Mary Parish in Batavia, where he served for five years. He later worked for nine years at St. Vincent’s and Blessed Trinity before being assigned to St. William Parish. In 1976 he was given his first pastorate at Sacred Heart in Friendship and Angelica, and in 1979 was appointed pastor of St. Mary Parish in Arcade.
Msgr. O’Neill was then given the pastorate at Immaculate Conception in East Aurora where he served for 23 years until his retirement in 2005. In retirement he also helps at Blessed John XXIII, 14 Holy Helpers, Queen of Martyrs and at the Mercy Convent.
