Fisher-Price Recalls Diego Boats

By EAST AURORA EDITOR  (10/30/2007 8:09:03 PM)

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in conjunction with Fisher Price, Inc., issued a recall today for Go Diego Go Animal Rescue Boats that's purpose is a water toy. The recall was voluntary. Those that have bought the product in the past few months should stop using them immediately, and if they are unsure about when they were bought, they should check the product numbers given in the recall to see if they have one of the products in question. The phone number for the recall is listed below. If consumers determine that they do have one of the recalled products, then they should stop using them altogether.

The name of the product being recalled is the Go Diego Go Animal Rescue Boats, and about 38,000 pieces were sold or distributed in the last few months by Fisher Price, Inc. of East Aurora, New York. The manufacturer is China. The reason for the recall is that it contains more than the allotted amount of lead in the paint, however, so far there have been no illnesses.

The toy is a boat that is yellow and orange and squirts water. Diego is a cartoon character and is placed in the driver's seat of the boat. You will find a product number of K3413, and a date code between 137-7HF and 223-7HF on the boat. There have been no reports of injury as of yet.

The product was sold in retail stores across the country beginning in June and ending in October 2007. The product was sold for around fifteen dollars. This is not the first time that China has had a problem with lead paint. It seems that they are having quality issues that have been going on for some time.

Those that purchased the Diego toys should take the product away from their children immediately and contact Fisher Price to receive a replacement toy. If you need more information you can call 888-299-0579 and talk to a Fisher Price associate.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is responsible for public safety and is set with the task of helping the public avoid high risks of injury or death. It has more than 15,000 types of products that it monitors all the time.
