"And then there were six".
Just when the Republican committee thought they were going to have trouble getting a good candidate to run against incumbent Dwight Krieger, their fortunes changes as six candidates stood up at last weeks meeting to announce their intention to seek the Republican Party endorsement for the November Town elections.
It is well known that the Aurora Republican Party has not been happy with current supervisor Krieger and have been looking for candidates to challenge him this fall. However the only candidate that stepped up early on was former supervisor Thomas Cotton.
The race now includes Krieger, Cotton, David DiPietro (Yes, the one and only), Sue Friess, David Foley, and Jolene Jeffe.
DiPietro is the former Mayor of East Aurora, Friess is on the board of the Aurora Ice Association, Foley is an Enterprise Account Manager for a local IT company, and Jeffe is active in the East Aurora PTO.
DiPietro's name was a surprise to some as the word in the political circle was that he was out of politics. However he has a strong ally in the party as Pat McDonnell is the vice chair of the party and is believed to have the support of the majority of the committee who in the end will choose the endorsed candidate.
We will keep you posted on the latest events in this race.
